Rushmore - WORDPRESS THEME SOLUTION FOR BLOGGING

BLOG LAYOUT

HEADER LAYOUT

MENU LAYOUT

Installation

INSTALL VIA WORDPRESS

1. Login to WordPress Admin
2. In the left menu panel go to Appearance > Themes > Add New to install theme, or Plugins > Add New > Upload to install plugins
3. Click Upload
4. Browse your download package to select installation files
5. Click Install Now button
6. Once it's uploaded, click the Activate link

INSTALL VIA FTP

1. Use your FTP software to browse to wp-content/themes folder to install theme or wp-content/plugins folder to install plugins
2. Extract the installation files to their corresponding folders, for example rushmore.zip to rushmore and upload to server
3. Once it's uploaded, go to your WordPress Admin, browse to Appearance > Themes or Plugins > Installed Plugins
4. Click the Activate link

Update Theme

1. Deactive current theme by going to Appearance > Themes and activate any other themes such as the default Wordpress 3.8's Twenty Fourteen.
2. Delete older version by clicking on Delete link. Confirm to delete.
3. Update and re-install new version.

All posts and settings will be saved. This is data-safe method.

Auto Update

1. Go to Plugins > Add News > Upload, find and install /plugins/envato-wordpress-toolkit.zip file (in the download package)
2. To establish an Envato Marketplace API connection navigate to the Envato Toolkit page and insert your Marketplace username and secret API key in the designated input fields. To obtain your API Key, visit your "My Settings" page on any of the Envato Marketplaces
3. Once the API connection has been established you will see a list of themes that can be auto installed. If you don't see any themes and are certain you've done everything correct, there is a good chance the theme author has not updated their theme to be available for auto install and update. If that's the case, please contact the theme author and ask them to update their theme's information
4. Note Only theme is updated. Related plugins must be updated manually. Please check release logs to see if you need to update plugins

Assign Home page & Blog page

To assign Home page and Blog page, please follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Settings--> Reading.
2. SelectFront page displays: A static page then chooses Front page and Post page from downdown list page.
3. In addition, you can choose the number of posts on Blog pages show at most option.
4. Click Save to save configuration.

EXISTING MENU

1. Go to Appearance > Menus
2. In the Manage Locations area, under Main Navigation, select a menu for in the dropdown box labeled Primary Menu or Footer Menu. Click Save

CREATING A NEW MENU

1. Go to to Appearance > Menus

2. Click Create a new menu. Enter a menu's name and click Create Menu

3. Check the menu item in the boxes in the left column, click Add to Menu to add items to the menu and drag/drop to arrange them.



4. If you would like to use this menu in navigation, in the Manage Locations area, assign your newly created menu to Primary Menu or Footer Menu. Click Save

5. Click Save Menu and that is all

WIDGETS

Add Widget to Sidebar

Please follow these steps to add widget to sidebar

1. From Admin Panel, navigate to Appearance > Widgets tab to access the list of widgets and widget section.
2. To activate a widget drag it to a sidebar or click on it. To deactivate a widget and delete its settings, drag it back
3. All done, click Save to save the widgets added on your sidebar.

RUSHMORE OPTIONS

GENERAL

1. Upload Logo: Upload your logo image
   
2. Upload Sticky Logo: Upload your logo image for sticky menu



3. Upload Logo(Retina Version @2x): Retina logo should be two time bigger than the custom logo. Retina Logo is optional, use this setting if you want to strictly support retina devices.
   
4. Default Image: If the article does not have a featured image, will use this image as default.
5. Script Header: Add code before the close head tag
   
6. Script Footer: Add code before the close body tag

HEADER

1. Select a Header Layout: Choose one of the following layouts (Header Layout). There are 4 styles which you can choose for Header

This setting can be overridden in each page/post

1. Show/hide sidebar: Hide/show the main Sidebar
2. Sidebar Position: Select the sidebar position for the blog pages
3. Sidebar: Select sidebar id that will display on all blog posts

Single Post

1. Show/hide sidebar: Hide/show the post sidebar

The general configuration for Blog

1. Blog layout: Choose one of the following layouts (Blog Layout). There are 8 styles which you can choose for Blog

404 - PAGE NOT FOUND

These features is only configured for 404 page

FONT SIZE

MAIN COLOR

This will override the google / standard font options

1. Main color: Controls several items, ex: link hovers, highlights, and more


CUSTOM CSS

1. CSS Code: Paste your CSS code, do not include any tags or HTML in the field. Any custom CSS entered here will override the theme CSS. In some cases, the !important tag may be needed. Don't URL encode image or svg paths. Contents of this field will be auto encoded

SOCIAL ACCOUNTS

SOCIAL MEDIA

These options allow you to set link and other configuration for Social Media. The social Media display informs Home Page V3 and Home Page V6



You can add Custom Social Account by clicking "Add New". You need to enter the title, Icon CSS Class (Font Awesome is recommended) and URL fields for your new social account

SOCIAL SHARING BOX

These options allow you to turn ON/OFF the social sharing feature for posts



AUTHOR'S SOCIAL ACCOUNTS

1. Add Social: This features allows you to easily insert social icons in your profile
   

   You can add Custom Social Account by clicking "Add New". You need to enter the title, Icon CSS Class (Font Awesome is recommended) and URL fields for your new social account

RUSHMORE SHORTCODE

Instead of writing lines of code to build elements, we built Rushmore with number of pre-made shortcodes that enable you to create elements as you see on our demo

Most of the properties of shortcodes are optional. You only need to include those properties when needed. The shortcode button generator can be found in both Classic Editor

DROPCAP

• Dropcap text: Enter text

TOOLTIP

• Tooltip text: Enter text tooltip
• Placement: Choose placement of tolltip
• Content: Enter text content

GALLERY

• Create gallery: Click Add Media > Create Gallery > Upload Files > Select files > choose image from your computer to upload and click Create a new gallery, continue uploading some images to create a Gallery album

IMAGE WITH CAPTION

• Caption: Enter text caption
• Image: Add image

CATEGORY PAGE

Go to Posts > Categories. Users need to fill in the following parameters:

1. Name: The name is how it appears on your site
2. Slug: The “slug” is the URL-friendly version of the name. It is usually all lowercase and contains only letters, numbers, and hyphens
3. Parent: Categories, unlike tags, can have a hierarchy. You might have a Jazz category, and under that have children categories for Bebop and Big Band. Totally optional
4. Description: The description is not prominent by default; however, some themes may show it
5. Layout settings: Choose layout settings
   • Default: Select "Default" to use global setting in Rushmore Options > Blog > General > Blog Layout)
   • Custom: Select layout / Select header style / Select header type
   

PAGES

CREATE A NEW PAGE

1. Create two new pages in WordPress (under Pages > Add new), and publish them
2. For the purpose of demonstration, we’ll call these “Home” (for the Front, or Home page) and “Blog” Go to Settings > Reading Settings, and under “Front page displays”, click the radio button for A static page
3. Select “Welcome” in the first drop down (for Front page), and select “Blog” in the second one (for Posts page). Save the changes

PAGE TEMPLATE

We have built some specific page templates for you. Here is the list and their short description:

1. Default Template: The default template can be used for any page
2. Home Page version 1 > Home Page version 6: This template can be used for Home Page. When Front Page is chosen, there are several options which you can use to configure Home Page vesion 2, vesion 3, version 4 and version 6
   
   
   • Select a category: Select a category of Featured Posts section
   • Select a tag: Select a tag of Featured Posts section

4. If you want to insert gallery into post content, click Insert Gallery. If not, just close the popup. Images will only appear on header carousel 
   
   
   
   
5. Enter necessary information such asTitle, Categories and tags,etc...then click Publish to save

1. Step 1: Create new pages (Pages > Add New)
